Yield, cycle time, and an operations brief
Online or on campus

You learn the language of a fab floor well enough to write an operations brief: where time is lost and what a yield miss means commercially. Frontier Innovation University teaches this award online and, where a cohort is formed, on campus. The 180 credits (1,800 notional hours) on this page are the sum of the 8 courses in the curriculum, so the transcript and the prospectus describe the same load. MSc Semiconductor Operations is taught as one award, not a list of unrelated modules. The published length is 18 months, and the credit total is 36. Students move from Yield in Plain Language through Yield in Plain Language; Cycle Time; Process or Plan; Operations Brief, and finish on Operations Brief. Each course has a question, a method, and a submission. In this field, students find where time or cost is lost and recommend one operational change. Reading is a process map, a capacity note, and a disruption case. The artefact a marker expects is a recommendation for one lane, site, or service with the cost and the risk. The award is built so that a graduate can do the following in practice: Define yield in words a manager can use Describe a cycle-time leak Separate a process issue from a planning issue Teaching assumes the student can read a source, attempt a problem before the seminar, and revise after feedback. Attendance at live seminars is part of the design. The capstone or final course must use the methods of the earlier courses; a project that ignores them does not pass. The pages for each course name the topics that are examined. Those topics are the syllabus. A brochure line is not a substitute for them.
Assessment is coursework on each taught module plus the final project named in the curriculum. Results are recorded as credit hours against each module. Fees are the figures published by Frontier Innovation University for this award; this page does not add a separate tuition claim.

| SCO501 | Flow, constraint, and the bottleneck Flow, constraint, and the bottleneck (SCO501) is a course on MSc Semiconductor Operations. It carries 20 credits and 200 notional learning hours, at 10 hours per credit. The course is taught at master's level. Students compare a weaker method, judge the evidence, and state what the result does not show. The chapters are the syllabus. Each chapter is a class of work this course assesses. Preparation is the reading, dataset, or case for that chapter. Seminar time is spent on the decision, the calculation, or the draft. The student revises after feedback. A pass requires the method named in the chapters, evidence a marker can check, and a stated limit on what the result does not show. The course is offered on the Austin campus route and on the tuition-free online pathway.
