Frontier Energy Institute Publishes 2026 ERCOT Grid Resilience & Battery Storage Study

The Energy Systems Laboratory at Frontier Innovation University has published its comprehensive analysis of the Texas power grid (ERCOT) performance during the record summer heat of 2026.

The study demonstrates that rapid-response lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) and sodium-ion battery storage arrays deployed across central and west Texas supplied over 6.8 GW of critical power during evening peak demand hours, maintaining stable grid frequency and preventing rolling blackouts.

"Utility-scale battery storage has transitioned from an experimental asset to the backbone of Texas grid reliability," explained Lead Author Dr. Robert Garza.
