Frontier and Illinois Tech Roll Out Dual Master's in Financial Technology and Distributed Systems
Frontier Innovation University and the Illinois Institute of Technology have launched an advanced dual-award degree: the MSc in Financial Technology & Decentralised Systems. The program addresses the rapid convergence of modern quantitative finance, cloud banking backends, algorithmic market operations, and cryptographic security.
The 18-month curriculum immerses students in high-frequency trading architecture, smart contract security audits, zero-knowledge proofs, automated market maker design, and regulatory compliance across SEC and CFTC frameworks. Students develop hands-on algorithmic trading bots and decentralized asset protocols within simulated exchange environments.
"Financial technology is no longer an elective—it is the foundational infrastructure of global capital markets," commented the Program Lead for Computational Finance. "Our dual degree combines Chicago's world-leading trading floor legacy with Austin's cutting-edge distributed computing ecosystem."
Graduates receive two independent Master of Science degrees upon successful defense of their quantitative finance capstone thesis.
