Frontier Innovation University Explains Semester Fees and Fee Assistance Line by Line

Because an online degree at Frontier Innovation University is priced in a low published band, the money attached to it is simple: a semester fee of $200 to $400, paid at the start of each of two or three semesters, totalling tuition-free online study for the award.

Fee assistance exists for students for whom the semester fee is still a barrier. The application is short: it asks about income, dependants and circumstances, and it is assessed on need, not on nationality, program or grades. Eligible students receive a reduction or a staged payment plan.

Applying for fee assistance does not delay admission. A student can accept an offer, begin studying, and submit the assistance application in parallel. A decision is normally returned within one working week, and a fee that falls due before the decision is held.

"We priced the degree so that most people can simply pay it," the Bursary note says. "Fee assistance is for the people the low price still does not reach. If the process is confusing, that is our failure, and the desk will walk you through it."

Emily Carter, in Denver, applied through the portal after a late shift. "It took ten minutes," they said. "The reply came before my first assignment was due."

Staff across admissions, registry, teaching and student services are told to design every process as if the default student is studying after a full day's work: recorded sessions, published rubrics, named advisers, and a library desk that does not close at the end of one country's office hours.
